ইন্টারপোলের লাল তালিকায় ৭০ জনের বেশি বাংলাদেশী অপরাধীর নাম আছে৷ তবে মিন্টু মিয়া হচ্ছেন প্রথম বাংলাদেশী, যার নাম মানবপাচারকারী হিসেবে ওই তালিকায় স্থান পেয়েছে৷
মিন্টু মিয়ার বিরুদ্ধে বিদেশে চাকরি পেতে আগ্রহীদের সঙ্গে প্রতারণা করা এবং অবৈধভাবে তাদের আটকে রেখে মুক্তিপণ আদায়, এমনকি হত্যার অভিযোগ আনা হয়েছে৷ চলতি সপ্তাহে তার নাম তালিকায় যোগ করে ইন্টারপোল৷ বর্তমানে সারা বিশ্বের সাত হাজার ৩৬৮ জন অপরাধীর নাম লাল তালিকায় রয়েছে৷
মিন্টু মিয়াসহ ছয়জন মানবপাচারকারীর নাম ইন্টারপোলের লাল তালিকায় অন্তর্ভুক্তির জন্য আবেদন করা হয়েছে বলে থমসন রয়টার্স ফাউন্ডেশনকে জানিয়েছেন বাংলাদেশ পুলিশের স্পেশাল সুপারিন্টেন্ডেন্ট অফ পুলিশ সৈয়দা জান্নাত আরা৷ ‘‘এই পাচারকারীরা বিদেশে চাকরি দেয়ার নাম করে বাংলাদেশীদের কাছ থেকে টাকা নেয়৷ এরপর লিবিয়ায় তাদের আটকে রেখে আরও অর্থের জন্য তাদের উপর নির্যাতন চালায়,’’ বলে জানান জান্নাত আরা৷
তিনি বলেন, ‘‘ইন্টারপোলে তাদের বিস্তারিত তথ্য দেয়ার কারণে তাদের চলাফেরা বাধাগ্রস্ত হবে, কারণ যে দেশেই তারা যাক না কেন সেখানেই তাদের আটকের চেষ্টা করা হবে৷’’
লিবিয়ায় বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাসের শ্রম কাউন্সেলর আশরাফুল ইসলাম ইন্টারপোলে পাচারকারীদের নাম দেয়ার বিষয়টির প্রশংসা করেছেন৷ ‘‘আশা করছি, এই উদ্যোগ মূল অপরাধীদের ধরতে সহায়তা করবে এবং পাচার হয়ে বাংলাদেশীদের এখানে আসা বন্ধ হবে৷ এই উদ্যোগ সফল হচ্ছে কিনা, তা জানতে আমাদের অপেক্ষা করতে হবে,'' বলেন তিনি৷
গত মে মাসে লিবিয়ায় ২৪ জন বাংলাদেশিকে অপহরণ ও হত্যার ঘটনার পর মানবপাচারকারীদের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযান শুরু করে পুলিশ৷ জুন মাসে অন্তত ৫০ জন পাচারকারীকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়৷ এটি মানবপাচারকারীদের বিরুদ্ধে ‘সবচেয়ে বড় অভিযান’ বলে দাবি করছে পুলিশ৷
আটকদের মধ্যে একজন শীর্ষ পাচারকারী রয়েছেন বলে পুলিশ জানিয়েছে৷ এক দশকেরও বেশি সময় ধরে ওই পাচারকারী প্রায় চার শ' বাংলাদেশীকে লিবিয়ায় পাঠিয়েছিল৷ মানবপাচার নিয়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সরকারের চলতি বছরের প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে, পাচার রুখতে বাংলাদেশ তৎপরতা বাড়িয়েছে৷ হাজার হাজার মামলা নিষ্পত্তি করতে ট্রাইব্যুনাল গঠন করা হয়েছে, যদিও অভিযুক্তের সংখ্যা এখনো কম৷
