মহানগরীর দুই নম্বর গেইটে পুলিশ বক্সে বোমা হামলার ঘটনায় জড়িত সন্দেহে আারো ছয় নব্য জেএমবি সদস্যকে আটক করা হয়েছে। বুধবার দুপুরে চট্টগ্রাম মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশের (সিএমপি) কাউন্টার টেরোরিজম ইউনিট থেকে এ তথ্য জানানো হয়।
আটকরা হলেন মহিদুল আলম (২৪), জহির উদ্দিন (২৮), মাঈন উদ্দিন (২০), আবু সাদেক (১৯), রহমত উল্লাহ ওরফে আকিব (২৪) ও আলআউদ্দিন (২৩)। তাদের সবার বাড়ি লোহাগাড়া উপজেলার বিভিন্ন ইউনিয়নে।
সিএমপির কাউন্টার টেরোরিজম ইউনিটের অতিরিক্ত উপকমিশনার আসিফ মহিউদ্দীন জানান, জেলার লোহাগাড়া, সাতকানিয়ার কেরানিহাট ও বান্দরবান এলাকায় অভিযান চালিয়ে তাদের আটক করা হয়। তারা প্রাথমিক জিজ্ঞাসাবাদে পুলিশ বক্সে জঙ্গি হামলার সাথে সম্পৃক্ত থাকার কথা স্বীকার করেছেন।
বুধবার দুপুরে তাদের আদালতে হাজির করা হয় স্বীকারোক্তিমূলক জবানবান্দি প্রদানের জন্য। প্রসঙ্গত, চলতি বছরের ২৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি রাতে নগরীর ষোলশহরে পুলিশ বক্সে রিমোট নিয়ন্ত্রিত বোমার বিস্ফোরণে এক পথচারী শিশু এবং দুই পুলিশ গুরুতর আহত হন। জঙ্গি সংগঠন আইএস এ ঘটনার দায় স্বীকার করে। এ ঘটনায় জড়িত সন্দেহে আগে চারজনকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছিল।
